Daily Rundown-Let’s Make Sure All the Screenings for The Undefeated in Orange, California are Mostly Packed on July 15th

Judging by the reaction to the sidebar open thread, this may end up being one of the few “daily rundowns” ever posted. Thank you for your thoughts on the new open thread format and we’ll make a decision next week as to whether to go back to the old open thread format or stick with the new open thread format with some modifications. Until then, here’s the “daily rundown” for however long it lasts:

-Our hope is that screenings in all of the cities where The Undefeated will debut on July 15 will be mostly packed but if I could choose one city to have the highest attendance figures, it would be Orange, California near Anaheim because of the symbolism. If I recall correctly, Orange County in California was a key country for Ronald Reagan when he ran for Governor and then President. There are five screenings available on July 15th in Orange, California for The Undefeated. The times when the movie will be shown on July 15th are 10:15am, 1:10pm, 4:05pm, 7:00pm, 9:55pm. If possible, please attend the 10:15am and the 1:10pm screenings. Bring a couple people who aren’t already Palin supporters. You’ll want to pre-order your tickets rather than buying them at the door. You can do so here.

-Michele Bachmann’s campaign says it won’t release her fundraising numbers until July 15th and refuses to leak what she raised in the second quarter. It’s plausible that she isn’t leaking her numbers because she had a great quarter and wants to wait for the holiday weekend to end so that she can win the news cycle. The more likely explanation is that Bachmann underperformed just like every declared GOP candidate did with their fundraising and that’s why her spokesperson is going on the record trying to bring down expectations. I cannot think of any other reason why her campaign would officially go on the record and announce that she’ll release her numbers on July 15, which is a Friday. It sounds like she’s waiting for a Friday to bury her numbers so that a weak fundraising quarter doesn’t break her perceived momentum. Keep in mind too that Bachmann’s staff doesn’t come cheap and she’s been known to burn through money pretty quickly and inefficiently, which isn’t surprising given that she’s never held an executive position with considerable authority.

-In any event, Mitt “peacetime” Romney didn’t even hit 50% of his goal and ended up raising under $20 million for the quarter. Ron Paul raised $4.5 million. Tim Pawlenty raised $4.2 million. The man who will finish ahead of Mitt “peacetime” Romney in New Hampshire raised a little over $4 million. Herman Cain raised under $2.5 million. I don’t think anyone cares what Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich raised. Apparently, some of Cain’s and Huntsman’s fundraising numbers are inflated because they include some of their own money and some of Pawlenty’s fundraising amount cannot be used for the primary.
