“Judging by her comments, she is squarely in the camp of conservative populism, opposed to corporatism and its corporate state….It’s endlessly elaborative. She could elaborate it with all kinds of newsworthy examples — abuses, prosecutions, convictions….She’ll really draw a line between herself and the others, who will never encroach on this.”
However, unlike Ralph Nader, Governor Palin’s anti-corporatism “comes from a libertarian point of view.”
In any event, the NY Times’ Anand Giridharadas tweets that Nader’s comments about the Governor signify the start of a new political alignment that “pit[s] the little guy/gal against vast, distant, alien, unaccountable institutions, whether big business or federal agencies.”
The Governor is polling at around the same level as an undeclared candidate as the eventual nominee John McCain was on this very day four years ago even though he had been running for quite some time.
What else is going on today?
