It’s The Gunfighter Syndrome

Guest Submission by Jim White

I am a Sarah Palin supporter. I have been since that first speech when John McCain introduced her for his VP. And like every other SP supporter I have been trying to figure out who I might support if she doesn’t get into the race.

I believe and trust Michele Bachman, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum, however, I just can’t seem to see them being able to do what I believe must be done to save our country. I am leaning towards Newt Gingrich, but why? I don’t like so many of the things he has said, however, not many of the things he has actually done, at least on the political front.

So why Newt? I have come to believe it is what I call the “Gunfighter Syndrome”. Just like in the days of the old west, if the honest people can’t clean up a crooked town (because they keep getting killed) then you have to hire a gunfighter to do it for you. Sometimes, when things get bad enough, the only solution is to hire a sheriff that is a tougher and faster gun.

When you are selecting a “Hired Gun” you don’t worry very much about things he has done in his past or his personal “bad habits”. You look at his ability to shoot straight and fast and his experience at fighting. Your primary concern is picking someone you can trust not to turn on you. You also have to choose from the people that have “applied” for the job.

So that brings us back to the 2012 election and the mess we have in Washington DC. Sarah said the answer to her prayer seemed to be “not now”. Maybe that means we need to send a “Fighter” to Washington DC to start the cleanup process.

That brings me back to Newt. He seems to be the best qualified “Fighter” that has applied for the job. At least he is someone that has “been there and done that” already.
