Taxpayer Town Hall

Monday, June 6 in Prescott

Special Guest: Congressman Paul Gosar

Dear Arizona Taxpayer:

For Americans who want to keep this country from going bankrupt, Rep. Paul Ryan’s House Budget Plan is the only game in town.

By saying that, AFP-Arizona doesn’t mean that we agree 100 percent with all of the elements of the plan. But we do believe that the Ryan Plan must be the starting point for serious bipartisan and multi-generational discussions about the fiscal future of this country.

We are happy to report that Congressman Paul Gosar has stepped up to the challenge and signed on to the Ryan Budget Plan for 2012. We are also happy to announce that Rep. Gosar has agreed to participate in a special AFP-Arizona Taxpayer Town Hall luncheon on Monday, June 6 in Prescott to discuss the Ryan Budget Plan. The event will take place at the Adult Center of Prescott, at 1280 E. Rosser Street Prescott, AZ 86391, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

REGISTER TODAY!

This event is free of charge and includes lunch. We will only admit the first 90 registrants to this exclusive event. To go to our Registration Page, use this link:

This is the Biggest Fiscal Issue Facing Our Country.

If America does not get a grip on its finances soon, the next generation will have to pay over $100 trillion in additional taxes over the next 75 years just to balance the nation’s books. That’s close to $20,000 a year in extra taxes for 50 working years for every child in the US currently under the age of 18! If America does not get government spending under control, those economy-crushing taxes will have to be paid one way or another: either through actual tax levies or through massive currency devaluations of the kind that plague Third World economies.

The 2012 Budget is the first step of Rep. Paul Ryan’s Road Map for America’s Future. The Road Map is a long-term proposal to stabilize federal spending at a sustainable level, keep our promises to Social Security and Medicare recipients who are too old to escape those systems, and allow younger Americans to escape from dependence on government retirement and health care subsidies.

In many ways, the Road Map is also an agenda for the promotion of freedom, but on the fiscal front, the objective of its policies is to create the economic growth and the budget surpluses necessary to pay down our debt and to fund the long-term transition away from inherently bankrupt systems of government-centered retirement and health care.

Some Important Questions for Rep. Gosar

Participants in the June 6 Town Hall will have a lot of important questions for Congressman Gosar about the Ryan Budget Plan. Here are just a few of those questions:

• What does the Ryan Plan do to protect Medicare for current and future beneficiaries?

• Does the Ryan Plan have enough of a margin for error? (Why does the Plan’s spending cap–19 percent of GDP–not include annual interest payments on the national debt? Does the Ryan Plan allow for such foreseeable future occurrences as wars, bailouts, and stimulus binges?)

• Can the Republicans and Democrats in Washington achieve some kind of rough bipartisan consensus around the fact that we need a national spending cap?

• Will Republican and Democrat partisans in Congress be able to line up some of their favorite sacred cows for the budget chopping block?

• Is the Republican Study Committee budget plan (a more conservative plan) a politically realistic alternative to the Ryan Budget?

• Now that he has walked away from the recommendations of his own Debt Commission, does President Obama actually have a realistic plan to promote the fiscal solvency of the nation?

• Can the Democrats go from being the party of Bigger Government to being the party of Sustainable Government?

• After their failures during the past decade, can Congressional Republicans establish themselves as credible champions of Gradually Smaller Government?

• How can America control the costs of its government-subsidized health insurance programs without engaging in ObamaCare-style health care rationing?

• How can Congress resist the temptation to engage in super-expensive bailouts and stimulus spending in future recessions?

• Will the pro-growth tax policy proposals in the Ryan Budget be enough to put America on the path toward robust economic growth?

• Does the static analysis of the Congressional Budget Office underestimate the tax revenue that would be generated by the Ryan Plan’s tax reforms?

• If America cannot reach a bipartisan consensus on fiscal sanity, will America in the coming decades find herself on the road to massive devaluation, social chaos, and violence?

• Other than supporting the Ryan Plan, what else can we as grassroots activists do to avoid bequeathing a bankrupt nation to our children and grandchildren?

CIVILITY AND SECURITY NOTICE

The Taxpayer Town Hall is a private meeting. By entering our meeting space, participants agree to act in a civil manner. Civil discourse involves vigorous debate, but not disruptive behavior. AFP-Arizona is hiring off-duty police to provide security, and disruptive persons will be escorted out of the meeting space. (We regret having to post this notice, given the routinely peaceful and respectful behavior of Arizona’s taxpayer activists, tea partiers, and other good citizens. Recent disturbances by labor union activists and leftist agitators have necessitated the implementation of this policy.)
